As you've probably heard by now, the Idaho Public Utilities Commission has added a new area code to the state of Idaho. This means that Idaho now has TWO area codes: 208 & 986.

Will I have to change my area code or telephone number?

NO. You will keep your exisitng telephone number and area code. In fact, future ATC customers will also be issued a 208 area code. However, other telephone service providers in Idaho may begin issuing the new 986 area code in November of this year.

How will this affect me?

Because Idaho will now have TWO area codes, all telephone calls now require 10-digit dialing (area code + the 7-digit telephone number).  Please begin using 10-digit dialing ASAP.  It is important to note that any calls attempted with only 7-digit dialing after August 5th, 2017 will not be completed and a recording will instruct you to hang up and dial again.

As always, we're here to answer any questions you might have.  Simply call, chat, or email us
