Cyber Security Awareness Month

The month of October known by popular culture as the month of pumpkins, sweaters, and Halloween is also becoming increasingly known as Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Since its original inception, Cybersecurity Awareness Month has grown exponentially reaching businesses, educational institutions, and consumers.

In a broad effort to help all Americans stay safe online, the initiative was launched by the National Cybersecurity Alliance and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in 2004. By bringing more attention to Cybersecurity Awareness Month this year we hope to raise more awareness about digital security and empower our customers to protect their personal data from cybercriminals.

It’s hard to believe that everything from our web browsing to mobile devices and the smart devices installed in our homes have the potential to erode our privacy and personal security. It’s projected by the year 2025 the average number of devices per household connected to the internet will be 20. More devices in the home will create more opportunities for a cyberattack.
