World Password Day: Protect Your Information

Passwords are critical to protecting your information online. They are the first line of defense against cybercriminals which makes it all the more important to have a strong password. The frustrating thing with passwords though is creating, storing and remembering them but fortunately, there are free, secure password managers that store all your passwords in one location.
Password Security Checklist
Use Long Passwords
Create passwords that are at least 16 characters long. Longer passwords take much more time to crack.
Keep Passwords Unique
Use a different password for every account. That way, if one is compromised, the rest stay secure.
Add Complexity
Include a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters (e.g., @, !, $) to your passwords.
Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
MFA adds an extra layer of security by requiring something additional—like a code—alongside your password.
Use a Password Manager
A password manager stores all your logins in one encrypted vault. We recommend using Lastpass.
Consider Using Passkeys
Passkeys are a password-free login method that uses your device and biometrics (like Face ID) instead of a traditional password.
Start today by building healthy online habits—doing so can drastically reduce your risk of compromised passwords. Becoming a password pro is one of the best defenses against cybercriminals.
