What is an ONT and what do the lights mean?

An ONT (Optical Network Terminal) is the device that connects your home to ATC’s fiber network. It converts the fiber optic signal into internet and phone service for your home. Depending on your installation, the ONT may be located inside or outside your home.

Front of the ONT

On the front of the ONT, you will see several status lights, like those shown in the image below.

• If you have internet service only, the illuminated lights should match the example below, along with any LAN lights for devices connected to the LAN ports.
• If you also have phone service, the Phone light will be illuminated.

Back of the ONT

The back of your ONT should be connected as shown in the image below.

• If you have internet and phone service, your connections should match the example.
• If you have internet service only, you will typically see just the blue Ethernet cable connected to LAN Port 1.
• If you have phone service only, you will see just the white cable.

Important Safety Information

Your ONT is installed and maintained by an ATC technician and should not be disconnected or removed. The fiber optic cable carries light that can be hazardous if viewed directly. To avoid injury or damage to the equipment, do not disconnect the fiber cable from the ONT or the wall outlet. Please contact ATC if you need assistance.
